HISTORY
HONOR THEIR SACRIFICES is a non-profit corporation that was founded in Texas in 2008 by several firefighters
who were inspired by the events that occured in Charleston, SC on June 18, 2007.  Nine Charleston firefighters
made the ultimate sacrifice that day at a fire in a converted commercial building.  As the smoke cleared, it became
evident to the founders that the best way to
HONOR THEIR SACRIFICES was to promote the lessons learned
and remove the obstacles that hinder the fire service's ability to easily access line-of-duty-death (LODD)
information.

WHAT YOU SEE NOW
Our current website is meant to serve as an example of what our organization is trying to accomplish.  It was
produced with Yahoo Site
Builder (a free program when using Yahoo! webhosting) by a web site amateur (me).

WHAT YOU WILL SEE
The task of creating such a comprehensive website quickly became overwhelming and we sought outside
assistance.  The website is currently in the process of being completely rebuilt by MarketNet (www.marketnet.
com), a full service interactive design and development company.  MarketNet has graciously donated $30,000
worth of website design and database creation for only $3,000.
Our new site will have a professional appearance and include a custom user-friendly database that offers unique,
super-fast and relevant ways to search this life saving information.  The new website's expected online date will
be summer 2009.  LODD information
and directly related educational resources will be...

  • CENTRALLY LOCATED
  • NEVER LOST
  • FREE TO USE
  • EASILY ACCESSED
  •   QUICKLY SEARCHABLE BY RELEVANT CATEGORIES

THE VISION
To eliminate the repeat mistakes within the fire service that foreshadow preventable line-of-duty-deaths, by
removing the obstacles which prevent fire service personnel from learning from past tragedies, and help to
prevent their reoccurrence.

THE MISSION
To honor past fire service personnel's ultimate sacrifice by preventing similar occurrences through providing
free and easily accessed information and education.

OUR PRINCIPLES
A genuine concern for our fellow brothers and sisters safety,
A non-judgmental attitude towards the departments and individuals involved in past line-of-duty-death incidents,
An optimistic and progressive attitude to aid in preventative efforts, and
An honoring view of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
because the lessons learned from their last alarm
